Throughout this two-day course, participants will gain a practical introduction to the role of Costume Standby within professional film and television production. The course explores the responsibilities of the role on set, with a particular focus on maintaining costume continuity, supporting performers, protecting and maintaining costumes, and responding quickly and effectively to the changing demands of a shoot.

Participants will develop an understanding of how the costume department operates during filming and how the Costume Standby works alongside the Costume Designer, Costume Supervisor, principal and crowd teams, hair and make-up, assistant directors, and other departments. The course will examine the preparation required before arriving on set, the equipment and supplies needed throughout the shooting day, and the professional working practices expected within a busy production environment.
