What will I learn?
This course provides a broad understanding of filmmaking across different areas such as Directing, Cinematography, Location management etc to help you to decide which department you would like to work in.
In Film Directing, you will learn a diverse range of skills to direct feature film High end TV Drama. The course aims to develop students with good communication and leadership skills, who are creative and visual thinkers. Good Directors are able to inspire others with their creative vision and imagination to produce outstanding work.
In Cinematography you will focus on camera basics, including lenses and equipment. Lighting the set and locations. Other important areas are continuity, composition, camera angles and shots. The course aims to give you a solid understanding of working on a set in these roles to help you secure your first job in the industry.
Cost of Study:
If you are under 19 on the date of enrolment this course is FREE. If you are over 19 on the date of enrolment the course fee is £6000, and you can apply for an Advance Learner Loan through the government’s Student Finance website.
There is also a Studio fee which is included in the total price which supplies you will all the equipment needed.

This course has been designed alongside Industry Professionals, to introduce you into to a career in Film and Television Directing and Cinematography. It will guide you through the key elements of Pre-Production, Production and Post Production. Most importantly you will be taught by Professionals currently working in the industry who can bring their Knowledge, experience and contacts into the classroom and help you to decide on the pathway you wish to take.
You will split your time between the Buckinghamshire College Group Amersham Campus TV/Film Studio, and Creative Media Skills state of the art studio base in the heart of British Film, Pinewood Studios. During the course, you will meet and learn from some of the most recognised working professionals across many areas, including Directors, Cinematographers, Focus Pullers, 1st Assistant Directors, Producers, Casting Directors, Actors, Script Supervisors, Editors, Location Managers and more!
Entry Requirements:
Applicants need to 18 and over. Students should have attained GCSE English and or Maths but applications from candidates with good levels of literacy and numeracy will be considered for mature candidates. A professional interview will be required
