Service Description

Step behind the camera and discover how stories are brought to life on screen in this two-week intensive course for 16–19 year olds at Pinewood Studios. Through hands-on workshops, you’ll explore the creative and technical foundations of filmmaking, including directing actors, visual storytelling, camera operation, composition, lighting, sound, storyboarding and production planning. You’ll learn how directors and cinematographers work together to shape the look, feel and emotion of a film. In week two, you’ll put those skills into practice, working as part of a small production team to develop, shoot and edit an original short film — taking your idea from initial concept through pre-production and filming to the final cut. The course concludes with a screening of the completed films and an introduction to the many creative career pathways available across the screen industries.
