Step into the world behind the scenery in this two-week intensive course for 16–19 year olds at Pinewood Studios. Through hands-on workshops, you’ll discover how the Art Department and Set Decorating teams transform scripts and ideas into believable worlds for film and television. You’ll explore visual research, mood boards, colour and texture, props, sourcing, set dressing and the creative process behind designing environments for the camera. You’ll put these skills into practice by responding to creative briefs and developing your own set concepts from initial idea through to a finished, camera-ready environment, learning how design choices can reveal character, create atmosphere and help tell a story. Along the way, you’ll gain insight into how Art Department roles work together on professional productions and discover the wide range of creative career opportunities available behind the scenes.
